Frequently asked questions

What are the most common mistakes new floor restoration technicians make, and how can I avoid them?

Rushing through prep work (which leads to poor finishes)

Using the wrong products for certain flooring materials

Not understanding moisture levels or environmental conditions

Solution: Always take time on surface preparation, follow product specs carefully, and learn to test floor conditions before applying any sealants or finishes.

How do you properly price a floor restoration job to stay competitive but still profitable?

Measure accurately, account for materials, labor, overhead, and desired profit margin, Understand the local market rates and what competitors charge, Use pricing tiers based on floor condition and desired results, Build in upsell opportunities (like protective sealants such as Turbo-Seal), Always offer value, not just a low price

What’s the best way to build long-term relationships with clients in this industry?

Communicate clearly and set realistic expectations from the start, Educate customers on care and maintenance so they trust your expertise, Offer maintenance plans or check-ins post-job, Follow up regularly and ask for referrals or testimonials, Show pride and professionalism in every job, no matter how big or small

What techniques or tools have you found most effective for restoring heavily damaged or neglected floors?

For wood: Use drum sanders or planetary sanders for deep refinishing, followed by progressive grit sanding to smooth the surface.

For concrete: Diamond grinding or shot blasting works best, depending on the level of damage and finish desired.

For tile/stone: Steam cleaning and mechanical scrubbing for grime, followed by polishing compounds or sealers. Turbo-Seal can be used as a final protective layer on many surfaces to lock in the restoration and extend the life of the floor. The key is knowing the substrate and matching it with the right restoration method — no one-size-fits-all.

Testimonials

Jeff E.

Homeowner in Austin, TX

"I’ve hired a lot of contractors over the years, but none have come close to the quality and professionalism of the team trained by Mark Markovic. The results from Turbo-Seal on my floors were jaw-dropping — my wife and I literally couldn’t believe how good they looked. It’s clear the training Mark provides is on another level. You can tell when someone knows their craft, and this crew was sharp, skilled, and efficient. I’d recommend them to anyone looking for serious results."

"Getting trained by Mark Markovic was hands-down one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made for my business. The education I received on Turbo-Seal completely elevated the way I restore floors — my clients are constantly blown away by the results and how brand-new everything looks. Mark didn’t just teach me the product, he taught me how to think like an expert. I’m making more money, closing more jobs, and finally feel confident charging what I’m worth. The training fee? Worth every penny — and then some."
